Q2. Can customers continue to use their ranges?
Yes. Consumers can continue to use their ranges. LG encourages consumers to follow safety precautions, including:
- Use LG’s Control Lock/Lock Out function on the range control panel to disable activation of the heating elements when the range is not in use.
- Keep children and pets away from the knobs.
- Check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving home or going to bed.
- Refrain from leaving objects on the range when the range is not in use.
- Be aware of LG ranges’ additional safety features, including a “Burner On” indicator light, an alert beep that sounds when the burner is activated, and a hot surface indicator light.
Q3. Why should consumers use the Control Lock/Lock Out function?
LG’s ranges included a built-in function, called Control Lock or Lock Out depending on the model, that disables activation of the heating elements when the range is not in use. Customers should use the Control Lock/Lock Out function to avoid accidental activation of the burners by humans or pets.
Q4. Why should consumers add a warning label to their ranges?
The label reminds consumers of the fire hazard that can result from accidental contact with the front-mounted knobs. The label instructs consumers to avoid the risk of accidental burner activation by using LG’s Lock Out/Control Lock function on the range control panel to disable the heating elements.
The label also includes a QR code so that consumers can view LG’s instructional videos regarding use of the Control Lock/Lock Out feature
Q5. When will consumers receive the label?
Labels should arrive within approximately 10 business days after consumers request them and provide their mailing address.
Q6. Where should consumers place the label?
Consumers should affix the label to the upper left-hand corner of the glass oven door. The label also will be accompanied by instructions and a diagram illustrating where to place the label.
Q7. How do consumers use the Control Lock/Lock Out function?
Consumers can activate the Control Lock/Lock Out function by pressing the button for three seconds. To confirm the Control Lock feature is on, a beep or melody will sound, and the control panel will display an image of a lock and/or “Loc.” To deactivate the Control Lock function and use the cooktop, again press the relevant button for three seconds.
